The Silsbee Bee is reporting that a Hardin County public official has died following a Wednesday accident that occurred during the noon hour on State Highway 326, southwest of Kountze.
According to Sergeant Stephanie Davis with the Texas Department of Public Safety, 69-year-old Lynda Davis was driving a 2016 Nissan passenger vehicle when she stopped as directed by a flagman at a construction zone.
However, Davis said another driver, 44-year-old Nancy Juarez, of Houston, failed to stop her 2019 Dodge van and slammed into the back of Davisâ car.
Davis was flown from the scene to St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont where she died the same day.
