He was born over a century ago and was born a slave. When he was a baby, he and his mother were kidnapped. He never saw his mother again, but by gods grace, he found a loving home and a new family that raised him as their own. Now, at the time, no school in town would admit a black student. So his parents taught him how to read and write. When he was older, there was a school about 10 miles down the road that opened its doors to him. He worked hard and did well. This happening near the statue of liberty. That is his empty parachute floating into a parking lot. He had already cut himself loose trying to save himself by landing in the hudson river. Heres linsey davis. Reporter tonight, the memorial day stunt going terribly wrong. Priority one fall, parachute down. Reporter an elite navy skydiver, freefalling high above the hudson river when his parachute fails. His chute didnt open. Reporter witnesses say when the skydiver was in trouble it looked like he had bailed out of his chute. Seconds later he plunged into the water. One of the navys parachute guys just went down in that area. Reporter the coast guard pulled him out near the statue of liberty. Thats gonna be by the liberty marina, liberty marina.
