In the wake of the incident, the police earlier registered a suo motu case of culpable homicide and booked the owner of the site, the contractor who erected the hoarding, the person who had rented it and the firm that was advertising on it, officials said. Officers have till now arrested Namdeo Barku Mhasudge, who owns the site, while the others remain on the run.
The incident took place around 5.30 pm on the service road of the bypass of the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway. The probe has revealed that the hoarding was illegally constructed.
The police booked the owner of the place, the contractor who erected the hoarding, the person who rented it and the firm advertising on it. Five people were killed and three others were injured in the hoarding collapse at the Kiwale area Monday evening.
Late on Tuesday night, the Ravet police arrested Namdeo Barku Mhasudge, the owner of the place where the hoarding was erected. Police also launched a probe to arrest the other accused who were said to be on the run.
