The State Election Commission (SEC) has notified election of Mayors and Deputy Mayors of Warangal and Khammam municipal corporations and chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of Siddipet, Nakrekal, Kothur, Jadcherla and Atchampet municipalities on Friday.
The results of election to these urban local bodies that took place on April 30 were declared on May 3.
State Election Commissioner C. Parthasarathi held a meeting here on Wednesday on the arrangements to be made for the indirect election to the urban local bodies’ (ULB) functionaries.

Though, the TRS captured Nakrekal municipality in Nalgonda district as well, internal bickering within the party proved costly for the party, after the TRS rivals won in six wards in the town.

HYDERABAD: The TRS juggernaut steamrolled its way to yet another electoral win on Monday by bagging both the municipal corporations of Warangal and Khammam and the five municipalities of Siddipet, Nakrekal, Jadcherla, Atchampet and Kothur. It also won three of the four wards which went for by-polls, making it a complete sweep.
The ruling party not only retained power in the seven urban local bodies but also won enough seats to easily win the posts of mayor and deputy mayor in the two municipal corporations and chairperson and deputy chairperson in the five municipalities. The date for indirect election to these posts would be announced soon. It is most likely to be conducted on the day of the swearing-in of the newly elected members.

HYDERABAD: The counting of votes for the seven municipal corporations and five wards will be taken up on Monday. State Election Commissioner C Partha Sarathi said counting will be conducted in strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols.
The polling was held on ballot papers on April 30. Over 1,300 candidates are in fray from 248 wards in the seven ULBs of Greater Warangal and Khammam Municipal Corporation and five municipalities of Nakrekal, Siddipet, Atchampet, Kothur and Jadcherla.
Bypoll was also conducted to five other wards in various civic bodies. Of the nine wards which went to bypoll, election was unanimously declared in favour of MIM in one ward, two wards in favour of TRS and one in favour of an independent candidate as only a single candidate filed nomination. No other party fielded candidates in four wards on the re
