Ex-Cop Kim Potter Charged w/ Second Degree Manslaughter In Duante Wright Killing
The former Minnesota officer, Kim Potter, 26, who fatally shot Daunte Wright, 20, during a traffic stop, was charged with second-degree manslaughter. Potter was arrested earlier today (April 14). According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office, Wright’s death is considered a homicide.
Potter and Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon resigned on April 13. Gannon said Potter “accidentally” shot her gun and claims she yelled “taser” but pulled the trigger instead. Benjamin Crump and Jeff Storms are representing Wright and said they don’t accept “the police assertion that the deadly confrontation was an accident.” They said,
