The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi has wrested the Nagarjunasagar Assembly constituency with its candidate Nomula Bhagat winning the by-election with a comfortable majority of over 18,000 votes.
The TRS nominee maintained his lead in all the 25 rounds, barring one round in which he trailed by a slender margin during the counting which commenced early Sunday morning. The Congress leadership had a virtual meeting with the party leaders right up to the in-charges at mandal-level with a view to step up campaigning for the byelection to Nagarjunasagar Assembly Constituency.
Asking the party leaders not to see the byelection to Nagarjunasagar just as another byelection, AICC in-charge of party affairs in Telangana Manickam Tagore wanted them to put in all out efforts during the 10 days time remaining for electioneering so that the party candidate and senior leader K. Jana Reddy emerged victorious with a good majority.
On Wednesday, Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy join an election campaign and said that only TRS had the right to seek votes from the people for the by-election to Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly Constituency. Let us share that participating in the election campaign for TRS candidate Nomula Bhagath at Kamareddygudem village of Thripuraram mandal in the constituency, Reddy said opposition candidates were fearing to venture out as they were expecting the people to question them on the contribution of their party leaders for the development of Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency. Congress candidate K Jana Reddy should tell people what he did to solve the issues of the constituency before asking for votes in the by-election, he said.

Betrayal of Telangana by the ruling parties in the State and at the Centre, Telangana Rahstra Samithi (TRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) respectively, is going on unabated since 2014, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged here on Monday.
The two parties are sabotaging the State’s economy and ruining the careers of lakhs of youth. “They have done gross injustice with Telangana ever since they came to power in 2014,” he said adding that the wrong policies of the State and Centre pushed Telangana into a debt trap while eroding lakhs of jobs and future opportunities. Both the parties are responsible for turning Telangana into a crisis State so as to extract political benefits, he observed.
