Dimapur, Oct. 26 (EMN): The Tuensang Special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court on October 21 sentenced one person to five years of simple imprisonment after being convicted of sexually assaulting a minor in Tuensang. The accused, identified as Anil Thapa, was convicted for aggravated sexual assault under section 9 of the POCSO Act by Longshithung Ezung, Special Judge POCSO court, Tuensang. The victim was awarded INR 1,00,000 as compensation to be paid out of the fund created under the Nagaland Victim Compensation Scheme 2012, stated an update from Additional Public Prosecutor, Tuensang. The Secretary, Home (Relief and rehabilitation), Government of Nagaland, was directed to take steps to sanction and release the awarded amount within 30 days from the date of receipt of the judgement and order, it added. The case was investigated by Assistant Sub Inspector Chilliam and the State of Nagaland was represented by Special Public Prosecutor, Kenile Kent.
