The Village Guards (VGs) will go on an ‘arms down’ protest on July 27 and 28. The announcement was made by the Village Guards Association of Nagaland (VGAN) at a press conference in Dimapur on July 17.
The incident took place on National Highway 29 near Old Chumoukedima police checkpost around 5 pm, officials informed. The cars were coming from the Kohima side during the accident.
The notice stated that the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Ministers, the Speaker, all the Ministers, the MP Lok Sabha and MP Rajya Sabha, along with the Chief secretary will be present in the meeting.
The ban had sparked widespread controversy in the state, particularly due to arguments that the prohibition disregards Article 371(A) of the Constitution, which grants Naga tribes the right to practice and preserve their customary laws and social practices
