Tamil Nadu opposition parties including Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and MDMK staged a protest outside the Sri Lankan Deputy High Commission at Nungambakkam against the removal of a war memorial (commemorating the Mullivaikkal massacre of 2009), at the Jaffna University in Sri Lanka.
Tamil Nadu leaders have strongly condemned the demolition of the memorial. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami handled a Twitter message to strongly condemn the demolition and said, The news that a monument erected at the Jaffna University campus in memory of university students and the general public who were mercilessly killed in the final phase of the war in Mullivaikkal, Sri Lanka, has been demolished overnight is shocking.
He said he came up in life through sheer hard work. I came up by working hard and thank our leaders (Late chief ministers) M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa for this. What remains everlasting is our achievements. This is what both our leaders have left behind through their good deeds, Palaniswami, whom the ruling AIADMK has announced as the chief ministerial candidate for the 2021 polls, said.
He is also the AIADMK s co-coordinator.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday retaliated to corruption charges levelled against the AIADMK government by the DMK. MK Stalin of the DMK met with Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit and handed over a dossier containing allegations of corruption against sitting ministers of the AIADMK.
