It’s hard to imagine first grade students making dainty silver bracelets and key chains adorned with charms that could be just as easily found in jewelry stores. It’s perhaps even harder to imagine that first grade students would make enough money doing so to make a real difference for their community.
But in Daytona Beach, teacher Carly Stasa s RJ Longstreet Elementary class of first graders have raised $1,700 by making turtle bracelets and keychains. They re donating all the money to the Marine Science Center in Ponce Inlet.
