Picture: Google Streetview Plans to build 157 new homes in Kendal have been given the go ahead, despite concerns over a lack of affordable housing and increasing pressure on local schools. Those issues were considered by South Lakeland District Council s planning committee before they decided to give the development on land north of Laurel Gardens the green light. The council s planning officers had recommended approval for the plans, subject to affordable housing, off-site recreational space and off-site drainage before the meeting of the council s planners. The plans were approved by the planning committee, with 11 votes for and three abstaining.
