A senior UAE government official has encouraged employees in public and private educational institutions in the country, including teachers and administrative staff, to take the Covid-19 vaccine.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and chairman of the Education and Human Resources Council said that by doing so they would accelerate the return to normalcy of schools and would also help the UAE achieve its target of vaccinating 50 per cent of its population in the first quarter of 2021.

Vaccination drive in the first phase is being conducted between 8am and 8 pm daily
Dubai residents wore their emotions on their sleeve, as they turned up in large numbers to take the Pfizer- BioNTech jab against the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) jab at the six designated centres of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) on Thursday.
The Pfizer- BioNTech vaccination drive, which started from 2pm onwards on Wednesday, is being conducted 8 am and 8 pm daily.
The first phase of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination campaign was launched in Dubai on Wednesday, a day after the announcement was made.
The vaccinations will be available at six Dubai Health Authority facilities

Dubai has commenced its Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination campaign after receiving the first batch of the coronavirus vaccine on December 22.
The campaign will see Dubai Health Authority (DHA) providing the vaccination in a phased manner,
Dubai Media Office reported. The vaccine, recently approved for use by the US Food and Drug Administration, was registered by the UAE’s health ministry late on Tuesday.

Doses will be available at four health centres in Dubai from Wednesday

The ultra-cold storage is necessary to prevent the mRNA in them – the technology used to deliver the vaccines – from breaking down.
The vaccine will be given free of cost in Dubai.
Keeping the vaccines at -70 °C maintains the structure of the mRNA for up to six months.
There has never been a vaccine or drug that has required such cold storage before, which meant Pfizer had to develop a special method to transport the doses.
