BSKE reset will affect Comelec contracts with suppliers

(PNA file photo by Joey Razon) MANILA - The possible rescheduling of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), from December 5 to May or December next year, will have implications on the Notices of Award to suppliers and service contractors. Comelec chief George Garcia, in a statement on Saturday, said they are studying the possible effects of a postponement, especially the legal aspects. "For example, the delivery will not be continued. The Comelec may be sued if our purchases will not be honored," Garcia said. He also clarified that the change in the schedule of ballot printing is not in any way an indication of the BSKE postponement. From the original September 21 schedule, the printing will start in the last week of the month. BOC-NAIA collection from smuggled items reaches P160-M

BOC-NAIA District Collector Carmelita Talusan, in a statement on Saturday, said their PHP157,066,144 collection was a result of the strong partnership with service providers and warehouses. An estimated PHP95.42 million worth of unregistered medicines, smuggled luxury goods, and unregistered beauty products were also intercepted at the People's Air Cargo (Paircargo), designated as a Public Customs Bonded Warehouse, since 2018 to date. The BOC-NAIA also inaugurated its second X-ray machine, the latest addition to its scanning capabilities, at the warehouse in Paranaque City on November 18. MANILA-More show business stars are gaining recognition from the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) for helping promote Philippine culture and Filipino, the country's national language. During the Araw ng Parangal program on Nov. 9 this year, KWF, in a statement on Saturday, said it will confer its Kampeon ng Wika award on superstar Nora Aunor. KWF will also confer its Dangal ng Panitikan award on singer-songwriter Freddie Aguilar. They are among the awardees KWF will honor during the program. Kampeon ng Wika is the annual award that KWF confers on individuals, institutions and organizations actively promoting and preserving, in different fields or disciplines, Filipino and other Philippine dialects.
