Fear grips residents as gas pipeline leaks in Lagos

Palpable fear, on Monday, gripped the residents of Eric Moore Road, Surulere, Lagos following a gas pipeline that leaked in the area.
The incident occurred in the afternoon when some of the residents noticed the leakage near Flour Mills/Bagco area.
Eye witnesses account said as soon as the leakage was noticed, some of the residents ran helter-skelter while others alerted their loved ones about the development.
It was gathered that scores of residents abandoned the area for fear of the unknown.
However, the Nigeria Gas Marketing Company was said to have isolated the line while fire services both from state and federal levels were on the ground to prevent possible explosions in the area as people were advised to stay away from the area.

Buhari, DG WTO, Okonjo-Iweala meet in Aso Rock

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with the Director-General, World Trade Organisation, WTO, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
This is the first official visit Dr Okonjo-Iweala, who is on a five-day workshop visit to the country is paying to the President since her confirmation on March 1, 2021.
She arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 2:45 pm and was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, the Minister of Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo as well as the Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Ambassador Maryam Katagum.

Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Godswill Akpabio has urged Nigerians to stop referring to President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointment of a sole administrator for the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, as ‘illegality’.
Senator Akpabio stated this on Friday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital during the opening ceremony of the 4th meeting of the National Council on Niger Delta.
The Minister who said it was wrong to refer to a Presidential appointment as illegality, explained that “Even the first executive director of finance and administration acted as sole administrator of NDDC at various times, we have also had a sole administrator from River State in the person of Sime Tare, we have also had one from Cross River State, as well as Mrs Enya from Bayelsa While
