KwaZulu-Natal political heavyweight and former Durban mayor Zandile Gumede says she is open to visiting former president Jacob Zuma. If I get time, I will. There is no problem with that. He is a former president who stays in KZN and I will [visit him] if I get time, she told a small group of media on Tuesday.
Gumede was speaking shortly before she and some members of the ANC eThekwini region led a delegation to the home of her former spokesperson and organiser, Mzomuhle Dube, at his residence in Mthunzini on the KZN North Coast.

JOHANNESBURG - African National Congress (ANC) eThekwini branches aligned to former eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede say they were opposed to guidelines that confirm that the party’s corruption-accused secretary general Ace Magashule must step aside.
As the ANC convened for its NEC meeting this weekend, the party has warned its members planning to head to the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court to support its corruption-accused secretary-general Ace Magashule not to behave in a manner “perceived to be undermining the decorum” of the governing party.
Magashule, who is currently out on R200 000 bail, is expected to appear before the Magistrate’s Court in Bloemfontein this Friday, Feb.19, on 21 charges of fraud and corruption relating to an asbestos removal tender during his tenure as Free State premier.
ANC national spokesperson Pule Mabe said they had previously called on their members going to court to show support to a leader appearing to do so in a dignified manner.

uMkhonto weSizwe military veterans said they are ready to do their “level best” to protect former president Jacob Zuma from being arrested.
The members of the MK Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) are expected to arrive in Nkandla from 2pm on Sunday, said the association’s spokesperson Carl Niehaus.
About 200 soldiers are being deployed to set up base outside Zuma’s homestead in northern KwaZulu-Natal, and will work in shifts. Their actions on the ground come in the wake of Zuma’s open defiance of a Constitutional Court order to appear before the Zondo commission of inquiry into state capture.
