Scope of work did not include construction and strengthening of the bridge
The People’s Republic of China Embassy in Malawi disowns attribution to the wash away of the Kyungu Bridge in Karonga that has been attributed to the Chinese contractors, Zhejiang Communications Group Co. Ltd, saying the scope of work the company was contracted to do on Karonga-Songwe Road did not include construction and strengthening of this bridge.

Assistant publicist for Kasungu Police Miracle Mkozi identified the deceased as Eunice Phiri.
It is alleged that on April 8 2021, Phiri went to Mzimba Boma in the morning to collect money from someone, which had been sent by her brother-in-law who stays in South Africa.
The deceased did not return home until 12 midnight when she was found lying dead in the middle of a road at the old filling station, along Mzuzu-Kasungu M1 road.
According to Mkozi, when police together with health personnel visited the scene of crime,they discovered that the deceased had three big cuts on her head and scratches around her neck.
