Even with modern detective work and DNA analysis, some crimes are still too tough to solve quickly.
When police run out of active leads, the case turns cold. According to the Redding Police Department, the city has six cold cases stretching back 45 years five of which are homicides.
From most recent to oldest, here’s an overview of the cases police are trying to crack.
