Davao City collects nearly P4M from face mask violators

SunStar Photo by Mark Perandos April 29, 2021 IN THE last five months, the Davao City Government was able to collect nearly P4 million from violators of the mandatory wearing of face masks. City Treasurer s Office (CTO) head Lawrence Bantiding said during the 19th City Council regular session on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, that from December 1, 2020 to April 20, 2021, the city was able to collect a total of P3,955,000 from 7,910 violators. From the total collection, P729,300 went to the barangays, while the remaining P3,225,700 went to the city treasury. He said 159 barangays were able to penalize individuals not complying with the face mask ordinance. Out of the total collection, 30.73 percent were apprehended by barangay officials, while 69.27 percent were apprehended by the Davao City Police Office.

Davao City to probe barangays not apprehending violators

On Monday, January 11, 2021, Duterte-Carpio responded to a listener s concern on some barangay officials allegedly not apprehending residents who are not wearing face masks in public places due to fear of losing in the next barangay elections. She said that should not be a hindrance for them to do their tasks and responsibilities. Mali nga i-base nimo imong (It is wrong to base your) actions depending on your chances sa (this) election. Kung magsige kag tan-aw sa election, dili nimo mabuhat imong dapat na trabaho (If that is your mindset, you will not be able to do your job as an elected official), Duterte-Carpio said in an interview on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio.

Davao treasurer s office collects P450,000 from face mask violators

SunStar Photo by Mark Perandos January 06, 2021 SINCE the mandatory wearing of face masks was enacted into a city ordinance on July 23, 2020, the Davao City Treasurer s Office (CTO) already collected more than P450,000 in fine collection. CTO Head Lawyer Lawrence Bantiding said in a virtual presser on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, that the city, as of December 31, 2020, collected a total of P451,000 from 902 individuals who violated the Mandatory Face Mask Ordinance. Bantiding said the top 10 barangays with the most number of apprehensions were Calinan Proper, Bago Aplaya, Angalan, Pampanga, Tambian, Lacson, Sto. Niño, 76-A, Riverside and Lizada. He added most of those who were apprehended availed of the No Contest Provision or paid the administrative penalties.
