State Police ID man found shot to death on I-95 as Petersburg man

The Progress-Index PETERSBURG Virginia State Police said Wednesday they are now investigating the death of a man found shot in a wrecked car on Interstate 95 Sunday night as a homicide, but they are not saying yet if that death resulted from a shooting incident reported minutes earlier in a neighborhood adjacent to the interstate. State Police Sgt. Dylan Davenport identified the victim as Quintell Pulliam, 35, of Petersburg. Pulliam was discovered in his vehicle southbound on I-95 around 10:45 p.m. Sunday. He was taken to Bon Secours Southside Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation s Richmond Field Office is continuing its investigation into a homicide that occurred in the City of Petersburg Sunday night, Davenport said in a VSP news release. That was the first time Pulliam s death was referred to as a homicide.

Petersburg, state police probe possible link between shooting, dead driver

The Progress-Index PETERSBURG City and state police are working to determine if there is a link between Sunday s reported shooting in the Myrick Acres neighborhood and an accident on Interstate 95 where the driver was discovered shot and died later at Bon Secours Southside Regional Medical Center. State police said the unidentified driver crashed his car into the I-95 median strip just north of the Wagner Road interchange around 10:45 p.m. According to the investigation, the car was southbound on I-95 when it ran off the right side of the road, then crossed over to the other side of the road where it hit a guardrail.
