DENR, GCash, WWF, Biofin to plant 365,000 trees – The Manila Times

GCash is the Philippines’ top cashless service, serving a fifth of the population; plus 75,000 partner merchants and 75 nonprofit organizations.

GCash funds massive re-forestation of Ipo Watershed

Published December 11, 2020, 5:00 AM GCash, the digital financial services firm of Globe Telecom, Inc., will fund a massive government-led re-forestation of Ipo Watershed, which is one of Metro Manila’s sources of freshwater. A statement showed that through donations generated from GCash, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the United Nations Development Programme’s Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) will be able to plant the first of 365,000 native trees like Narra, Lauaan, Kupang and Yakal in Ipo, which is located in Bulacan. The reforestation will take place in 2021 as soon as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
