Belleville is mourning the loss of Alicia “Kenny” Chambers, a veteran Intelligencer photographer and selfless volunteer who knew virtually everyone and everything happening in the city during her 30-year tenure at the newspaper and well beyond into her later retirement years.
Mrs. Chambers died April 12 at the age of 98 surrounded by her family at Belleville General Hospital.

Fiercely independent, she lived in her long-time Belleville home until 94.
Her daughter Terry Malette, one of six children, told The Intelligencer her mother’s passing leaves a big hole not only in the family but also in a city community to which she was completely dedicated.
