Berejiklian said at least 34 of the new cases were in the community while infectious. “That is the number that we need to see as close to zero before Health will advise the government that the lockdown can end,” she said. Asked if Greater Sydney’s lockdown will extend for at least three to four more weeks, Berejiklian says it is up to the community to determine how long restrictions last. “A large part of it is dependent on all of us doing the right thing and being extra cautious,” Berejiklian said, adding this was “not the time to cut any corners”.

New South Wales has recorded 112 new coronavirus infections - the state s highest daily amount this year - after Premier Gladys Berejiklian said she anticipated local cases to crack 100 in a day.
Ms Berejiklian said most of the fresh cases are family members of positive cases or close contacts, while 48 infections remain under investigation. I want to stress again, as we did yesterday, if you put yourself at risk, you re putting your entire family, and that means extended family, as well as your closest friends and associates, at risk, she said.

NSW has reported 112 new local coronavirus cases on Monday, as Sydney’s outbreak continues to grow in the city’s south-west.
The figure is more than triple the highest daily case number seen during the city’s Crossroads or Avalon clusters last year.

Forty-one of the new cases were household contacts of cases, 23 were other types of close contacts, while the source of infection of 48 cases is under investigation.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the “vast majority” of cases were family members or very close contacts. “Family or close friends, unfortunately bear the brunt,” she said.
