Berkshire Bank s account for low income consumers receives certification

ALBANY Berkshire Bank’s account option for consumers facing financial pressure received official certification from the national nonprofit Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund’s Bank on National Account Standards, the bank announced on Thursday.
The product, called MyFreedom Checking account, has no charges for overdrafts or monthly maintenance fees, as well as offering free mobile banking.
The account option aims to alleviate the banking disparities in low-income communities, said the bank’s head of consumer banking, Tami Gunsch. Top Picks In Shopping
