The joint force of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and People’s Defence Forces (PDF) forces reportedly raided three locations, including the district police station in Kawkareik Township, Myawaddy District, Kayin (Karen) State in a coordinated action around 10:30 am on 15 August.
There was fighting between the newly formed Kawthoolei Army and junta troops in Shwe Aye Myaing Village, near the Ukrihta military outpost, in Karen State's Myawaddy District at 4:00 p.m. on 27 July.
The Karen National Union (KNU) and Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) announced that they were opposed to the newly formed Kawthoolei Army and expelled its leader Saw Nerdah Mya from the KNU.

The junta launched 125 airstrikes over five days in Wale Myaing Township, in Karen State's Myawaddy District, between 27 June and 1 July, in fighting to take control of the Ukrihta army base.
