The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will come equipped with a new 200 MP camera. This sensor, the ISOCELL HP2, has a physical size of 1/1.3", falling short of a type 1-inch sensor like the IMX989 on phones like the Vivo X90 Pro and Xiaomi 13 Pro. Apparently, Samsung has a reason for that decision.
The Xiaomi "13 Ultra" is currently believed to become the first premium smartphone to launch with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 top-end SoC and Sony s ground-breaking 1-inch sensor for mobile devices, the IMX989. However, according to a reliable source, it will hardly be the only device on the market with the same specs in the near future, a prospect that might allow its class-leading camera spec to start appearing in new devices starting at under US$600 in China before too long.
More details of the Xiaomi 12S series have now been revealed. While the 12S Ultra gets a groundbreaking main camera, the 12S and 12S Pro look set to sport the same 50 MP camera on the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro. Sadly, though, all of that may be irrelevant to fans outside China, as the phones look unlikely to ever launch globally.
