Coffee farmers have struck a deal to sell their produce directly to international buyers in South Korea without going through brokers to maximse their profits.
During a four-day Coffee Expo that kicked off on Wednesday in Seoul, where Kenya was the guest country, a number of farmers drawn from several coffee cooperatives met and interacted directly with South Korean importers.
The inaugural networking forum was meant to enhance direct sale and marketing of Kenyan coffee while positioning it as unique and of high quality.

The National Assembly yesterday shelved the debate on the controversy surrounding the appointment of Mwende Mwinzi to Seoul, South Korea ignoring its conditioned approval.
This came even as Members of Parliament called for the sacking of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ambassador Raychelle Omamo and action taken against her for being in breach of the law and abuse of office.
Majority Leader Amos Kimunya sought the indulgence of Speaker Justin Muturi to give him three weeks leave to establish whether Mwinzi has complied with the House resolution to renounce her US citizenship before taking up the diplomatic role.

The appointment of Mwende Mwinzi as Kenya’s High Commissioner to South Korea has continued to elicit mixed reactions, with MPs questioning her dual citizenship.
The lawmakers want Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo to appear before the Defence and Foreign Relations committee to confirm if Mwinzi has officially reported to her new post.
The National Assembly is set to debate a report by the committee, which recommended that her appointment be rejected if she does not renounce her US citizenship.
Speaker Justin Muturi directed the committee s chair Richard ole Kanta to issue a notice of motion on Thursday, following calls by MPs to have the issue cleared up.
