Court takes up NAB application for auction of Nawaz s properties - Pakistan

Screengrab/File ISLAMABAD: An accountability court here on Thursday commenced proceedings on an application filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) seeking auction of the properties of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Accountability Judge Syed Asghar Ali said the court would proceed on the application to dispose of the unclaimed properties of Mr Sharif. The application was filed by NAB Deputy Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar Khan Abbasi. Referring to the accountability court’s order in which Mr Sharif has been declared a proclaimed offender in Toshakhana reference, Mr Abbasi stated that despite a lapse of six months, the former premier did not surrender before the court.

The application was filed by NAB Deputy Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar Khan Abbasi. Referring to the accountability court’s order declaring Mr Sharif a proclaimed offender in the Toshakhana reference, Mr Abbasi stated that despite a lapse of six months, the former premier did not surrender himself before the court. He recalled that the accountability court had declared Mr Sharif a proclaimed offender on August 17 and ordered attaching his property on Oct 1.
