Muttahida Ulema Board endorses PM’s statement on ‘Hijab’

LAHORE: The Muttahida Ulema Board, Punjab, and leaderships of different religious and political organisations have endorsed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement on ‘Hijab’ and women s clothing, saying the views are in accordance with the teachings of Quran and Sunnah.
The Ulema-Mashaikh of different religious groups and sects agreed upon that the teachings of Islam forbid both men and women from indecency and nudity by debarring them to use inappropriate cloaks or outfits. Addressing a press conference on Sunday at Seerat Center of Muthahida Ulema Board office, Lahore, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council, Special Aide to Prime Minister on Religious Harmony and Middle East, said the critics of the prime minister are unaware of the teachings of Quran-o-Sunnah, saying that Islam has given honor and respect to women, and they have also been asked to wear ‘Hijab�

LAHORE: The clerics said Prime Minister Imran Khan’s stance for considering obscenity and nudity as basic reason of sexual violence is correct and based on facts. Addressing a press conference Sunday, following the meeting of all schools of thought at Muthahida Ulema Board, Pakistan Ulema Council chairman and PM’s special aide on religious harmony and Middle East Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said Prime Minister Imran Khan’s stance against obscenity was misinterpreted. Obscenity and nudity is one of the basic reasons behind the rising incidents of sexual violence, he said. Unicef and several European and American investigation agencies have also pointed out this but unfortunately a certain section of women and men have launched a campaign against the stance of the prime minister and misinterpreted his stance.

LAHORE: The Muttahida Ulema Board has termed terrorism, extremism and sectarian violence and killing of innocent people in the name of religion anti-Islam, stating Islamic law and the Constitution have already determined the rights of Muslims and non-Muslims in Pakistan.
Addressing a Press Conference here on Monday, Pakistan Ulema Council, Muthahida Ulema Board chairman and Special Representative to Prime Minister on Interreligious Harmony and Middle East Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said the Shariah and Constitution protected the rights of all the minorities. “If any group, individual or organisation violates the law, legal action should be taken against it. No one should be allowed to take the law into their own hands and no Muslim or non-Muslim should be extra-judicially executed, and if anyone does so, all religious schools of thought, clerics and religious organizations have announced unanimously their disassociation.”
