AJK elections: PTI, PML-N, PPP, others vying for almost every seat

July 18, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Five important parties, as well as other political groups, have nominated candidates for almost all the 45 constituencies of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (AJKLA) in the July 25 general elections. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has fielded its nominees for all the seats while the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have put up candidates in 44 constituencies each. The All J&K Muslim Conference and Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) have awarded tickets to their representatives on 42 and 40 constituencies respectively. The federal government proscribed the TLP in April this year under the Anti-Terrorism Act for its violent activities but has not got it de-registered by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Moot demands govt reject any kind of relations with Israel Karachi May 7, 2021 Pakistan Peoples Party central leader Senator Taj Haider has urged the Muslim Ummah to unite and stand up against the draconian troika of the US, India and Israel, which could be proved fatal for global peace. He was addressing a multi-party conference titled’ “Relations with Israel enmity with Muslim Ummah”, organised by the Palestine Foundation at the Karachi Press Club. Haider asked all the stakeholders to play a dynamic role to support the Palestine cause and the pro-Palestine ideology. Firdous Shamim Naqvi, former opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader, said Kashmir and Palestine were a humanitarian issue, which was needed to be brought up before the sophisticated world. “We need to unveil the brutality, which is going on in those regions,” he said.
