PH refinery: NNPC assures on April 2023 completion date On By Obas Esiedesa The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has assured Nigeria that planned rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt refinery would be completed as scheduled in April, 2023. The corporation said the rehabilitation which would cost $1.5 billion would bring the refinery back to 90 percent capacity. A statement by NNPC spokesman, Dr. Kennie Obateru on Friday explained that work on the project has kicked off work with a firm commitment not to fail Nigerians. Obateru, quoted the NNPC Chief Operating Officer, Refineries & Petrochemicals, Engr. Mustapha Yakubu, as saying that everything was being done to ensure that the project is delivered hitch-free and on schedule.

General Manager, Public Affairs, Kennie Obateru, in a statement on Friday assured Nigerians that the project will not fail. He quoted the NNPC Chief Operating Officer, Refineries & Petrochemicals, Engr. Mustapha Yakubu, as saying everything is being done to ensure that the project is delivered on schedule. Yakubu spoke at the Technical Kick-off Meeting for the project at the Port Harcourt Refinery Complex, Alesa Eleme, Rivers State. “It must be hitch-free; we are engaging the host communities appropriately. 200 million Nigerians are looking up to us and we can’t afford to fail. We’ve been on this journey since 2019,” he added.

FG targets 11 5m litres of petrol as rehabilitation of Port Harcourt Refinery begins

Daily Post Nigeria Published The federal government is targeting about eleven point five million litres of petrol from the Port Harcourt Refinery at the completion of the first phase of the rehabilitation exercise. This was disclosed by the Managing Director of the Port Harcourt Refinery, Ahmed Dikko during the kick-off of the rehabilitation exercise on Thursday. The Federal Executive Council had in March 2021 approved 1.5 billion dollars for the rehabilitation of the refinery which is expected to be completed in 44 months and three phases. The Managing Director of the Refinery who spoke to newsmen said it will work at a 90% capacity when the first phase of the exercise is completed within 22 months.
