CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â Jill Reed has lived near Mustang Beach Airport in Port Aransas for 15 years and said she was afraid when she heard about the plane crash.
âI was so afraid that it was one of my friends that it was one of their planesâ¦but obviously it wasnât as I wouldâve heard from them,â Reed said.
Reed said itâs shocking hearing about those in the crash and that the crash was loud.
âThere was no smoke. Thatâs for sureâ¦. when I saw the fire engines and what notâ¦that there was going to be a fire over hereâ¦but there was no fire,â Reed said.

The plane s pilot was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other two passengers, a father and his eight-year-old son, were taken to area hospitals for injuries. Both are expected to recover. The cause of the crash is not yet known, but federal investigators will be on the scene investigating today.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal plane crash in Port Aransas; one man died, and two others are in the hospital.
The crash happened at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Saturday at the Mustang Beach Airport, along State Highway 361, within the city limits of Port Aransas.
DPS officials said the plane s pilot died in the crash; the youngest on board, an 8-year-old boy, is in stable condition the other passenger is in critical condition.
