Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi called for a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, the terrorist group controlling Gaza, in a Tuesday statement after continued airstrikes.

Gaza City, Gaza Strip Israeli airstrikes on Gaza City flattened three buildings and killed at least 42 people Sunday, Palestinian medics said. Despite the heavy death toll and international efforts to broker a cease-fire, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signaled the fourth war with Gaza s Hamas rulers would continue on.
In a televised address, Netanyahu said Sunday evening the attacks were continuing at full-force and will take time. Israel wants to levy a heavy price from the Hamas militant group, he said, flanked by his defense minister and political rival, Benny Gantz, in a show of unity.

Netanyahu defends Gaza strikes, says Israel will do whatever it takes to restore order
Washington Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday defended his country s continuing airstrikes in Gaza, arguing Israel will do whatever it takes to restore order in the region and bring an end to rocket attacks by Hamas. We ll do whatever it takes to restore order and quiet and the security of our people and deterrence. We re trying to degrade Hamas terrorist abilities and to degrade their will to do this again. So it ll take some time. I hope it won t take long, but it s not immediate.
