COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Columbus City Council held it’s first meeting of the year Tuesday.
Many things were discussed, but one of the most notable was the historic oath of office by newly-elected sheriff, Greg Countryman. Countryman is the first African American to hold the position of sheriff in Muscogee County.
“I feel great right now,” Countryman said. “This is a very historical moment and to see all the support come out today. “There are people from other states, other countries, my fraternity brothers, and friends are watching this moment.
