St Arnaud Library technology windfall through backyard cricket and fri
St Arnaud Library, part of Northern Grampians Libraries, has received a total of $3000 in funding to put towards technology thanks to the National Backyard Cricket program and the St Arnaud Friends of the Library group.
National Backyard Cricket, an inaugural fundraising event held in January this year was founded by the Australian cricket charity trust Learning for a Better World (LBW). The event raised money for Australian library education projects and tertiary education programs in developing countries.
LBW donated $1,500 from the event to the St Arnaud library; this sum was subsequently matched by a further $1500 from the St Arnaud Friends of the Library.

Mayor Cr Murray Emerson said the benefits of the project would be appreciated by residents and visitors alike for years to come.
“Thanks to DELWP funding and our partnership with GWMWater, the Greening St Arnaud project is now complete and providing reliable and cost-effective recycled water supply to many of our public parks and open spaces in St Arnaud,” the Mayor said.
“Our Parks and Gardens staff have a lot more options with their annual plantings and watering plans for our recreation areas and parks and this will greatly improve the tourist appeal and liveability for our townspeople.

Book Launch and Events Abound for Library and Information Week
Northern Grampians Library Services will be catering to all ages with several events planned for this year’s Library and Information Week (Library Week), a week observed nationally by libraries. Library Week will be held this year from Monday 17 to Friday 23 May.
The theme for Library Week is “Adventures in Space and Time”. To celebrate this theme, St Arnaud and Stawell Libraries will delight younger library users with a reading of “Give Me Some Space!” by Philip Bunting during the Simultaneous Storytime that forms part of the week’s activities.
