A man in his 50s was taken to hospital and a person was arrested after a family harm incident ended with a house fire in Taranaki on Friday night. Police, Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ) and St John Ambulance attended the incident on East Beach Rd, Waitara, at about 9.45pm. “The premises was well involved on arrival,” Fenz central communication shift manager Murray Dunbar said. Kitchen fire tears through Palmerston North home

Fire and smoke have torn through a kitchen in a Palmerston North home. Firefighters rushed to battle the kitchen blaze on Upham Terrace just after 7pm on Wednesday. Fire and Emergency spokesman Murray Dunbar said it took firefighters 20 minutes to control the fire in the ceiling of the single-story house, leaving the home just after 8pm. Stuff
