Relief was the common reaction among the steady stream of approximately 410 Saugeen Shores seniors – the 80-and-over cohort – vaccinated against COVID-19 March 13 at an invitation-only clinic in the former Port Elgin police station, now home to the Nuclear Innovation Institute.
Town of Saugeen Shores Director of Protective Services, fire chief Phil Eagleson said the clinic was offered locally to ensure everyone over 80 – born in 1941 or sooner – could get vaccinated without having to leave town. Physicians at the Saugeen Shores Medical Clinic in Southampton had pre-booked appointments with their over-80 patients. Patients at the Port Elgin Dr. Earl Centre were vaccinated last week.
