hands on it? i don t know if they will but the department of justice is fighting this hard. putting up stiff arm. not complying with the subpoena. this watering the efforts of two committee chair american. now chair men tonight said they had made progress and they re in a dialogue, but when you have a subpoena from congress, they should turn over these documents and the yes is kim did a wonderful job reporting this, the question is about timing and did they have the person injected into political campaign reporting back to the obama administration as to what was going on and the timing of all this and the intricacy of what was happening or not happening there is really perhaps one of the biggest stories this year about what s going on with that mural probe. the doj says it is working with the chairman and looking forward to trying to get them the information a different way than they had asked for we will continue to hear from breadth both sides. check on ron and his progress on th
the president look, whatever is going on out there, you, sir, are not a target of this investigation. do you believe that and is it your sense that that is that? yeah. i mean, i guess i accept it on faith from the reporting that he did tell him that now, what that means is absolutely up for discussion. as y all were just talking about, you know, we did hear this earlier on. whether that means that the president doesn t become a target later on, something doesn t develop is absolutely part of this. there has been this move here in congress to defend the mural probe and defend rod rosenstein and the mural himself against any efforts to fire. this news may take some of the steam out of those sales. you know, you had mitch mcconnell earlier this week barely clearly saying he wasn t going to bring this bill to the floor. the senate judiciary committee next week is going to probably pass that bill that would protect mueller from firing through the committee. but this does take some of the
one it gives rosenstein and mueller breathing room. makes it a lot less likely that the president would terminate either of them at least in the near future. it also validates to some extent what the president has been saying when he was saying there was no collusion. we haven t done anything. if mueller has been investigating this for some time now and the president is not a target of the investigation, that tells you something. now, the thing to keep in mind, of course, is that someone s status as a nontarget can always change. as the investigation continues, mueller may gather more evidence. so just because you are not a target now, doesn t mean you will never be. but i think today is definitely a good day for the president based on these reports. neil: it sounds like, rosenstein had with the president was post of the personal attorney s offices getting raided by fbi officials. but just quoting from this bloomberg report, rosenstein apparently brought up the mural probe himself wi
been told not once but twice that he is not in these latest developments the focus or the targets of let s say just the mural probe if we are to take bloomberg to be consistent maybe the michael cohen probe widely to look at the other investigation going on involving the president s personal lawyer. your thoughts? my thoughts are that a lot of democrats, a lot of people in the press, a lot of critics of donald trump have been itching at the bait here waiting for donald trump to be thrown out of town by robert mueller. he is going to find that there was collusion with russia which is somehow a crime. he would be forced to resign. it s like richard nixon. i think it s become increasingly obvious that the chances of that happening are zooming down towards zero. and the reports that you had from bloomberg news about rod rosenstein goes in that direction. none of the crimes that mr. mueller has brought prosecutions for have anything to do with the
always been something that s concerned people close to trump. the reason for that is very simple. he has more visibility than just about anyone into the president s personal business affairs for the past decade. and this went right to the heart of that. this is not under the purview and limited scope of the mural probe. this is the southern district of new york. it s a separate deal. and the worry among these people is when they go down the michael cohen rabbit hole, what else do they find and where does that lead? it s clearly something that concerns the president. and you can see that from his public behavior. dana: meanwhile, the white house is also trying to figure out what to do next in syria. i think what you ll end up seeing as nikki haley was on our air earlier. she was not talking to us personally, but she was talking about how the decision is being deliberative. they are trying to pull together a coalition. they are being very thoughtful because this next move will have to
