Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 4) Senator Leila de Lima and her lawyer Boni Tacardon have asked a Muntinlupa court to dismiss the contempt case filed against them by government lawyers over their statements on the testimonies of witnesses in one of her drug cases.
In separate comments filed on March 1, De Lima and Tacardon asked the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 205 to outrightly dismiss the case as their statements did not present any threat to the drug charge. In the words of the Prosecution themselves, what they only fear is that the said statements will persuade, influence, intimidate, incite perception and sentiments of their colleagues and other government officials, including the trial court judges , Tacardon said.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 24) – The camp of detained Sen. Leila de Lima maintained she did not receive ₱1.4 million worth of drug money from the late drug lord Jaybee Sebastian when she was Justice Secretary.
Atty. Boni Tacardon, De Lima s lawyer, emphasized that convict Joel Capones testimony showed he had selective memory.
Four senators file a resolution seeking to allow detained Senator Leila de Lima, who marks her fourth year in jail today, to attend the chamber’s plenary sessions and committee hearings virtually.

In a decision last Feb. 17, the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 205 denied the demurrers to evidence filed by De Lima and co-accused, Ronnie Dayan, in case 17-165, which accuses the two of conspiring to commit illegal drug trading when she was still the justice secretary.
The two are accused of receiving P10 million from New Bilibid Prison (NBP) inmates in November and December 2012.
“Taking into consideration the pieces of evidence of the prosecution collectively perused and analyzed, the Court is convinced that the evidence of guilt is strong,” the court ruled. It also junked De Lima and Dayan’s petitions for bail.
