The University of the South Pacific may be in breach of law if they continue paying Professor Pal Ahluwalia upon the termination of his contract.

It appears that the legal opinion conveyed by Suva law firm Munro Leys on the contract of former University of the South Pacific Vice Chancellor Professor Pal Ahluwalia may have been ignored.

Lawyers for the University of the South Pacific, Munro Leys had agreed that the contract of former Vice Chancellor Professor Pal Ahluwalia was terminated and revocated.
Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum made the remarks in his contribution on the debate for the review of the USP 2017 Annual Report.
He said as per the contract of Prof Ahluwalia, the revocation of his visa meant his contract was terminated.

FRIEND Fiji has distributed 754 stationery kits to school children, of which 717 have been distributed in Nadi.
Families who had been impacted by COVID-19 were being assisted through the COVID-19 CSO Humanitarian Response Centre in Navakai, Nadi.
“We thank UN Women for providing the stationery for primary to secondary school needs,” said FRIEND director Sashi Kiran.
“We are also very grateful to the team at Munro Leys for their cash donation, enabling us to purchase school bags for those entering the new school year.
“We believe every child needs to be supported for education, any child that drops out of the education system now, due to economic constraints, may not have the opportunity to access education again.”
