NPHS foundation stone laid in Jalalpur Pirwala

MULTAN: Like in other cities of Punjab, the foundation stone of the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme (NPHS) has been laid in Jalalpur Pirwala where 104 houses will be constructed.
The housing scheme is being set up on 32 Kanal and 14 Marlas. Prime Minister Imran Khan laid the foundation stone of the project through video link on Thursday at a ceremony organized at the Multan Sports Complex. Parliamentarians and government officials unveiled the foundation stone at the ceremony. Among those who participated in the inauguration were MNA Ahmed Hassan Dehar, MPA Javed Akhtar Ansari, Commissioner Javed Akhtar Mahmood, RPO Khurram Ali Shah, Deputy Commissioner Ali Shehzad and CPO Munir Masood Marth.

Five corona patients die at Nishtar Hospital

MULTAN: Five coronavirus patients died at Nishtar Hospital, Multan, during the last 24 hours.
According to the hospital officials, Asghri Bibi, 75, Hashmat Bibi, 75, Kalsoom Bibi, 60, of Multan, Muhammad Rashid, 58, of Khanewal and Sakina Bibi, 75, of Vehari were tested positive for coronavirus and died at the hospital during treatment.
They said 210 coronavirus patients are under treatment at the hospital.
According to divisional health authorities, 269 people were tested positive out of 3,265 in public and private hospitals during the last 24 hours. In Multan district 212 people were tested positive out of 2, 833 and reports of 5,670 people were being awaited.
14 policemen injured by religious organisation activists

GUJRANWALA: Police have arrested 398 Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) activists and got registered 15 cases for protesting, blocking the roads and damaging the public property during the last two days across the region.
The police told that on the directions of the Punjab government, the police had cleared all the roads from the protesters. They informed that 54 TLP activists were arrested in Gujranwala district, 25 in Sialkot, 93 in Gujrat, 100 in Hafizabad, 62 in Mandi Bahauddin and 64 activists were nabbed in Narowal district.

Two notorious robbers arrested, weapons recovered

MULTAN: Muhafiz Squad has arrested two notorious robbers involved in heinous crimes of dacoity and murder and recovered sophisticated weapons from their possession, police said Monday.
The robbers had escaped from Bahawalnagar-Minchinabad prison four days ago. Both the robbers were involved in 49 serious cases including murder, attempted murder, rape, robbery, burglary, motorcycle theft, and illegal weapons.
The Muhafiz squad personnel Fahim, Zafar Abbas and Faisal were patrolling the Bahawalpur bypass in Multan, they intercepted two motorcycle riders near the bypass and in retaliation they opened firing on the cops. Finally, Muhafiz squad arrested both the robbers and one of them sustained injuries.
