GUWAHATI: The state election authority has asked deputy commissioners of all districts to treat officials, who would be engaged in election duty, as frontline workers (FLW), and prepare their list for registering in the Co-WIN portal for immediate vaccination.
Immunization spokesperson and director of health services (family welfare), Munindra Nath Ngatey, informed TOI on Wednesday that the vaccination of poll officials would begin within a week, as they need to be administered both doses before they fan out to different booths. Elections in Assam are likely to be held in April.

GUWAHATI: Assam’s young voter and international shuttler Megha Murchana Borah will be the brand ambassador of the state election department as the state goes to the polls next year.
Assam chief electoral officer (CEO) Nitin Khade, who visited the office of the district election officer of Kamrup Metropolitan District on Friday, said being a young voter herself, Megha Murchana will act as a brand ambassador for the election department, Assam, highlighting the role of young voters thereof, read a statement from the district election officer.
During his visit, Khade also interacted with Borah and discussed the importance of young electors for a stronger democracy.
