Gesmundo OKs fully remote videoconferencing hearings

Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo Judges may now conduct entirely remote hearings amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In a circular issued on Monday, Court Administrator Midas Marquez said Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo has allowed judges in first and second level courts to conduct fully remote videoconferencing hearings until further notice “so as not to delay the trial of cases and court processes.” The first level courts are the Metropolitan Trial Courts, Municipal Trial Courts, Municipal Trial Courts in Cities, and Municipal Circuit Trial Courts while the second level courts are the Regional Trial Courts.
