+ February 18, 2021 THE Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) 7 called on stakeholders to push for management and conservation measures that would reinforce the lifting of the closed season policy in a portion of the Visayan Sea.
BFAR 7 Director Allan Poquita urged local officials and the City or Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Councils (FARMC) in the involved areas to initiate or revive legislation that would ensure that fish stocks in the Visayan Sea are managed properly.
He said that this move will help sustain the livelihood of the small-scale or municipal fisherfolk.

+ February 02, 2021 THE 18 fisherfolk organizations in the town of Cordova, Cebu have new motorbancas they can use, materials of which were provided by the Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corp. (CCLEC) as part of its corporate social responsibility program.
Aside from fishing, Cordova Mayor Mary Therese Sitoy-Cho said the 18 motorbancas can be used to ferry visitors to the town’s various tourist spots.
On Jan. 27, 2021, Cordova Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Ramil Baluran led the blessing of the newly finished boats in Barangay Day-as.
