3 sacrificial animals markets in capital, 10 in Rawalpindi

Islamabad : The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) has set up three markets in the outskirts of the federal capital to allow sale and purchase of sacrificial animals ahead of Eidul Azha.
The sale points were established in suburban areas including Bhara Kahu, Taramri, and Tarnol in compliance with the anti-coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the district administration to curb the virus spread, MCI Administrator Syeda Shafaq Hashmi told this agency.
“It is the responsibility of MCI to provide opportunity to citizens of Islamabad to perform their religious duties along with safety measures,” she noted.
Wasa starts dredging of Pindi’s Nullah Leh

Rawalpindi: On the directions of Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) started dredging of Nullah Leh here on Wednesday.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah has formed monitoring teams. Director Local Government and Community Development Amna Rafiq In-Charge of the monitoring teams visited Nullah Leh on Wednesday. Wasa Managing Director Raja Shaukat and other senior officials also accompanied her on the occasion.
Wasa Managing Director Raja Shaukat also briefed Commissioner Rawalpindi Division that Punjab government has provided Rs30 million for dredging of Nullah Leh. The process of dredging of Nullah Leh will be completed before the onset of monsoon, he claimed.

Contempt plea filed in SC against Punjab chief secretary

ISLAMABAD: A contempt petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Saturday against Chief Secretary, Government of Punjab and Secretary Local Governments and Community Development for defiance of its order of March 3, 202, restoring the Local Government system in Punjab.
Sardar M Naseem Khan of Satellite Town, Rawalpindi, (Mayor Municipal Corporation, Rawalpindi) filed a petition in the apex court praying to initiate contempt proceedings against Jawad Rafique Malik, Chief Secretary Punjab and Noor ul Amin Mengal, and Secretary Local Governments and Community Development, Punjab. He prayed that the respondents might be summoned and be dealt with in accordance with law and punished severely for defiance and disobedience of its order dated 25.03.2021 passed in Constitutional Petition No.48 of 2019.
