Mumbai s daily coronavirus cases today dropped below the 1,000-mark after over 11 weeks. The capital city of Maharashtra, fighting the deadly second wave of Covid infections, on Friday reported 929 cases, its lowest since March 2.
The city also reported 30 deaths over the 24-hour period, the state public health department said in its daily bulletin. The recovery rate improved to 94 per cent, it said, adding, the doubling rate stands at 370 days.

Mumbai reported 5,888 new Covid cases on Saturday evening - a three-week low and a significant drop from the 7,221 it reported on Friday, the 7,410 on Thursday and the 7,684 on Wednesday.
This is the lowest daily addition to its caseload since March 31, when 5,394 new cases were detected, and it is the first time since April 12 that the number of new daily cases is below the 7,000-mark.
The number of deaths linked to the virus, however, remained roughly the same over the past three days - 71 on Saturday, 72 on Friday and 75 on Thursday.
The city - once the worst-affected in the country - conducted nearly 40,000 Covid tests over a 24-hour period ending this evening. On Friday approximately 42,000 tests were conducted.

With the addition of 8,217 coronavirus cases and 49 deaths, the infection tally in Mumbai rose to 5,53,159 and deaths to 12,189 on Thursday, the data shared by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) revealed.
The country s financial capital had reported 11,163 infection cases on April 4 (2021), which was the biggest one-day spike since the pandemic began.
As 45,486 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, the overall test count of the metropolis increased to 48,01,219, the BMC data said.

The daily case tally shot up in the financial capital after remaining below 8,000 for the last two days.
On Monday, the city had witnessed 6,905 COVID-19 cases followed by 7,898 on Tuesday.
