Start CBSE schools for Urdu medium students too, BMC urged

Mumbai: BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration has been requested to start new CBSE schools for Urdu medium students too.
This demand was made by Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA and Corporator Rais Shaikh.
The Mumbai Municipal Corporation had earlier decided to to redesignate all its schools as Mumbai Public Schools .
To start with, the biggest civic body in India had also decided to start 10 new CBSE schools for Marathi medium students besides developing 20 out of 63 playgrounds in phases to improve school infrastructure.

Mumbai Schools under the BMC would soon get a facelift and be rebranded as Mumba Public Schools. The civic body - Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, (BMC) has allocated Rs. 2945.78 crore to education in its annual budget released yesterday. A total outlay of Rs. 39,038.83 crore has been committed for this year.
With a focus on infrastructure and education, BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal presented the budget to the civic standing committee. He also shared that an amount of Rs 2,945.78 crore would be allocated for education.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], February 3 (ANI): Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday unveiled Rs 39,038.83 crore budget of the civic body for the financial year 2021-22.
BMC commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal presented the budget before to the civic standing committee on Wednesday.
The civic body s estimated budget stands at Rs 39,038.83 crore which exceeds the budget estimates of 2020-21 by 16.74 percent, Singh said.
The capital expenditure proposed at Rs 18,750.99 crore with a focus on infrastructure, health, and transport. Rs 750 crore has been allocated for Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) in the FY 2021-22.
