Pancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal forms of cancer. The five-year survival rate is only 11%, according to the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research. The reason pancreatic cancer is so lethal is because of metastasis the spread from a primary tumor site to different areas, said Denis Wirtz, a Johns Hopkins .
Post-doctoral fellow Ashley Kiemen synergized her love for math, visual artistry, and biology by co-developing a platform to create interactive, 3D models of human tissue to improve the study of tumor formation
Researchers at the center will use a cutting-edge computational platform that creates highly accurate 3D models from tissue slides, providing greater insights into traditional forms of tumor research
