Organizing a full slate of virtual events to get Saskatchewan engaged in African Canadian Black History Month has been challenging, but Carol LaFayette-Boyd hopes the effort will raise awareness of the contributions the province’s African Canadian community have made throughout history.
As the executive director of the Saskatchewan African Canadian Heritage Museum (SACHM), LaFayette-Boyd and her team of volunteers usually have a series of in-person events and cultural celebrations planned throughout February to mark the month.

CFCR Saskatoon Community Radio is very proud to present the 2021 Cultural Showcase - an online music performance event! We met up (safely) with some superb local acts at the Capitol Music Club to present an array of sights and sounds sure to please!
With performances from Dakota Shepherd (First Nations traditional grass dancing with hip-hop), Kiela Caudillo & Ian Longhran (Mexican artist singing in Spanish & Portuguese with acoustic guitar), Koricancha (Andean music with traditional instruments), Alma Flamenca (Flamenco dance performance), and Hanna Rose & The He-Bros (Traditional/Early Jewish), we invite you to kick back and enjoy from the comfort of your home!
