Germanna staff working to help students in need

Germanna Community College staff watched as a woman wandered by a food distribution event held on the college’s Fredericksburg campus in December. They could tell she was uncomfortable accepting free food. Though she told them she had recently become unemployed, she clearly “felt weird taking the food,” said Jessica Thompson, an employee of Germanna’s Educational Foundation. Thompson organized the food distribution event to help students and their families who have been financially affected by the pandemic as part of Germanna Cares, an umbrella initiative that includes the college’s food pantry, career clothing closet, cold weather clothing drive and staff and student emergency funds.

Niko Hatch Becomes the ASSOU President

Hello SOU Community, My name is Niko Hatch, and as of this past December 8th I am now your new ASSOU President. My predecessor Sarah Grulikowski has decided to withdraw from the position. I would like to extend my thanks from the student body to Sarah Grulikowski for her leadership and guidance through the beginning of this year and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.  As her Vice President I assumed the office upon her withdrawal, and a new Vice President was elected from within the ASSOU body. I would like to extend congratulations to Andrew Zucker for being appointed the new ASSOU Vice President, and we both look forward to serving you as your student leaders.
