KUALA LUMPUR: The Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) will be imposed in several localities in Sabah, Johor and Kuala Lumpur from May 23 until June 5.

pix) said the EMCO would be enforced at Kampung Pagar Sungai Imam, Tawau; workers’ dormitories at Oceanic Fabric Mill and Purnabina factory in Kluang; and Kampung Batu Muda Tambahan and People’s Housing Project (PPR) Kampung Limau, Kuala Lumpur following the increase of Covid-19 cases with high infectivity rate.
“To date, the Health Ministry has conducted 35 screening tests at Kampung Pagar Sungai Imam in Tawau, of which 24 people tested positive for Covid-19,” he said in a statement today.

TUMPAT: An estimated 1,583 residents on four islands in the Sungai Pinang sub-district, here are reminded to stay in their own homes throughout the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) that will be enforced tonight till June 4.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Shafien Mamat said cooperation from the residents are of utmost importance to help health officials to conduct Covid-19 screening tests in the area and to curb the spread of the disease in the locality.
“There is no need to flee or run away to another village. I have assigned an officer and 30 police personnel to monitor the four affected islands, Teluk Renjuna, Pantai Hj Nik Mat, Pulau Beluru and Pantai Suri throughout the EMCO.

PETALING JAYA: A 65-year-old man was detained for posing as a police officer in a bid to secure an interstate travel permit.
The man had gone to the Petaling Jaya police station at about 9pm on Friday and claimed to be an Assistant Commissioner of Police with a Datuk title.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the man even showed them a photo of him in a police uniform stored in his mobile phone.

PASIR MAS: More than 500 vehicles attempting to enter the state without inter-state travel permit were ordered to turn back yesterday, said Kelantan police chief Datuk Shafien Mamat.

He said the number was recorded between 12am to 5pm yesterday, at the three main entry points to the state, namely, Gua Musang, Pasir Puteh and Jeli.
Apart from not having inter-state permit letter, Shafien said there were also a handful of road users who only produced the permit without verification of any police station.
“These people were unlucky as the police were able to detect the tactic and they were ordered to turn back,” he said.
